Frequently Asked Questions

Consignments are delivered by a curtain side lorry, with tail lift offload. Pallets are lowered to ground level using the rear tail lift NOT a crane, then rolled to either the curbside or onto a driveway if this is accessible.

Successful deliveries using this method of offload require smooth, solid, and level ground that is free of gravel or grass as any uneven surface can stop the pump truck rolling (Please see our Delivery Info).

For larger orders of 8 pallets & more, Contact Us or call 01629 636212 for a quote, including a hi-ab crane offload.

Yes, once you have entered the first part of your delivery postcode into the product page, the site will display the availability and pricing, inclusive of economy delivery and VAT. If you decide to look at other items, your entered post code allows the pricing for other products to show automatically

Most of our products are available for AM delivery, charged at an additional £30.  Timed Deliveries may also be possible to add to your order for an extra charge, so please Contact Us on 01629 636212 if this is required.

It is preferable for someone to be on site to accept the delivery, direct the driver and let them know where you would like the pallet to be left in line with our Delivery Restrictions. If you can’t be there, then a family member or neighbour can sign for the delivery on your behalf, but if this is also not possible, please ensure to inform a member of our team when placing your order, and the pallet(s) may be left kerbside like a parked car.

Deliveries are typically made within 2-3 working days. Available dates to suit you can be selected at checkout and for orders placed before 1pm, a Next Day service is also available at an additional £15 per pallet.

Orders placed after 1pm, with next-day delivery are still charged for this service but will not leave until the following working day.

95% of our orders are delivered on the requested day, but as we use a third-party haulier, this is not absolutely guaranteed due to unforeseen circumstances which are beyond our control. Should your consignment be delayed, redelivery would be booked for the next working day after and either Stone Warehouse, or the haulier will contact you directly.

If you intend to have a landscaper lay the decorative aggregates, we suggest making arrangements for them to start after the material has been delivered.

We recommend 14mm, 20mm, or 10-20mm Gravel for driveways. Gravels and Chippings of this size are too large to be caught in shoe & tyre treads, whilst being small enough to create a flat surface, comfortable to walk on and drive over safely.

The Gravel Calculator will provide an estimate of your decorative stone requirement based on the measurements you enter.  For gravel drives ad paths we recommend working to a depth of 50mm.

Select your unit of measurement, first and then enter the length and width of the area you intend to cover. Please ensure the required depth is correct for the stone type you intend to buy as this is important for accuracy of the calculated answer provided.

Bulk bags typically contain 800kg and the smaller poly bags, supplied in pallet quantities are filled with 20kg each (25kg for Pebble Dashing).

Crates of Rockery weigh 1000kg (1 tonne), with some half crates of 500kg also available.

Boulders are supplied in crates of 1000kg (1 tonne), with others supplied crates of 650 – 750kg.

Details of each product offering can be found in the product description, product information tabs or the displayed pallets after postcode entry.

Stone Warehouse product imagery is indicative of the products we have in stock and are periodically updated. When viewed on different screens, differences in colour settings and brightness can affect the look of the materials, and as these are natural stone aggregates, some variance is to be expected between batches.

Stone Warehouse offer samples for Gravels & Chippings, Pebbles & Cobbles, Slate Chippings & Paddlestones, along with the Porcelain Paving. These are ordered via the product page once your postcode has been entered for you to check the product in hand before ordering your pallet(s).

Should you feel the stone being delivered is incorrect, call 01629 636212, preferably while the driver is still on site. We normally require product images to be emailed to the member of staff who answered your call to confirm if the material is incorrect and if the stone is confirmed to be wrong, refuse the pallet(s) which will then be returned, and we will endeavour to arrange replacements for delivery as soon as possible.

If the consignment is refused BEFORE confirmation of the stone type, which then is determined to be correct, further charges will be applicable to redeliver the pallet(s) or for return to our yard if you wish to cancel your order at this point.

Stone Warehouse products are competitively priced, including mainland UK delivery and are sourced in house to maintain the highest quality.

For larger orders of 8 pallets & more, or loose loads of over 10 tonnes and above, Contact Us or call 01629 636212 for a competitive delivered quote.

Should you wish to return your order, please Contact Us, or call 01629 636212.

Typically, you will need to arrange for the pallet(s) to be collected from your address and returned to our yard. On receipt, the goods will be checked and weighed before refunding your original payment.

Stone Warehouse can only accept pallet(s) returned in the condition they arrived. Partially emptied Bulk Bags and pallets of poly bags where some have been removed are not returnable.

Returns are accepted up to 14 days after delivery of the product.

Problems ordering via our website are normally as a result of a missed box not being ticked for our Terms & Conditions, or to confirm our Delivery Info has been read and accepted.

Occasionally a checkout can ‘time out,’ so when you click to proceed to the next section, nothing happens, but if you close and reopen your browser, this usually corrects the issue allowing you to proceed to payment.

However, if you are still struggling, please Contact Us, or call 01629 636212.

The delivery pallet and all packaging of the aggregate forms a part of the consignment, so it is for the consignee to dispose of at their discretion.

However, many of our customers make use of the pallet in the garden project, creating decorative garden furniture seating and tables, or planters, raised flower beds or vertical and leaning herb kitchen gardens. Take a look at our Garden Inspiration, Pallets & Packaging article for some great ideas.

If this isn't for you, all plastic packaging is recyclable and most refuse centres will accept pallets so they can be returned to circulation and reused.
