Our Plum Slate Chippings 20mm are a natural Welsh slate material with beautiful purple plum/blue colour tones that deepen when wet. These plum slate chippings are ideal for garden borders, mulch, raised beds, rockery gardens, water fountains and fish ponds as they are a fish friendly material. Please see our images for colour change when wet and dry. The 20mm size plum slate chipping is ideal for foot paths as it beds together well and offers a more comfortable walking surface in comparison to larger gravels. Actual sizing is 5–30mm please see our Sizing Info. Once laid the smaller pieces will form a mulch bed with the larger more decorative plum slate chippings on display. PLEASE NOTE: Our Plum Slate products are a TRUE Welsh Slate material which may differ in colour to plum slates purchased from other retailers who may source their stone from elsewhere. If you are attempting to match slate colours, please order a sample before your main purchase. Currently, our Plum and Blue Slate products may have some similar colour tones due to the quarry seam that is being mined at present. Supplied on pallets in bulk bags of around 750kg or various quantities of 20kg poly bags, we also stock a larger 40mm Plum Slate and tumbled Plum Slate Paddlestones.

Any Next Day deliveries need to be placed before 1pm Monday to Thursday.
Next Day deliveries placed on a Friday before 1pm will be delivered the following Monday excluding Bank Holidays - then the delivery will be on the Tuesday)

Plum Slate Paddlestones
Plum Slate Paddlestones 50-100mm are larger than our other slate chippings and are tumbled for a smoother surface and more rounded edges. As a fish friendly product they are very popular for water features and ponds but are also ideal for rockeries, borders and decorative landscaping. Our photographs show the product wet and dry. We also offer Plum Slate 20mm and Plum 40mm Chippings that have more angular edges as an alternative or complementary addition. Our Slate Paddlestones are also available in Blue, Green, and Charcoal. Green Slate Chippings 20mm
Green Slate Chippings 20mm are a natural subtle green colour that blends well into any garden environment. Uses include decorative features, borders, paths and rockeries but as a fish friendly product it can also be used in water features and ponds. Green slate tends to be chunkier than our plum, charcoal and blue slate and as with all slates it looks beautiful when wet. The pictures show the product wet and dry. The actual size of the product is between 5–30mm which is a good size for paths as it tends to bed together better than the larger 40mm Green Slate to form a flatter walking surface. Charcoal Slate Chippings 20mm
Our Charcoal Slate Chippings 20mm are a contemporary pale grey colour that darkens to near black when wet. This recycled slate product is also known as grey slate and black slate, please see our sizing info. These Charcoal Slate Chippings are ideal for contemporary gardens, mulch, landscaping projects, lawn borders, raised beds and decorative rockeries. As a fish friendly product they can also be used in fish ponds and water features. For other Charcoal Slate options please see our larger Charcoal Slate Rockery. We offer our Charcoal Slate Chippings in bulk bags of approx. 750kg which covers 8-10m² at a 40mm depth or various quantities of 20kg poly bags, delivered to your preferred address (Delivery Info). Large Slate Paddlestones
Our attractive Large Slate Paddlestones, also known as Celtic Paddlestones, are predominantly blue with some pieces of green and plum slate that are tumbled for a smoother surface and rounded edges. Uses include paving, stepping stones, gabion baskets, walling, rockeries and borders and as a fish friendly product they are also ideal for water features and fish ponds. The size of the pieces is 150-300mmm with some smaller angular pieces possible - please see sizing info.
