Charcoal Slate 40mm, also known as Black Slate, is an attractive chunky grey stone that appears almost black when wet for a contemporary finish. Charcoal slate has increased in popularity and uses include borders, raised beds, and rockeries and as it is a fish friendly product it can also be used for ornamental water features, ponds and aquatics. Colour: Pale grey in colour when dry, they darken to near black when wet (Occasional white/rust coloured inclusions may be included)

PLEASE NOTE: Our Charcoal Slate products are a TRUE Welsh Slate material which may differ in colour to grey slates purchased from other retailers who may source their stone from elsewhere. If you are attempting to match slate colours, please order a sample before your main purchase.
Delivery information
We aim to deliver all orders within 2-3 working days from receipt of order (Most orders placed before 1pm will be delivered in 2 working days).
Any Next Day deliveries need to be placed before 1pm Monday to Thursday.
Next Day deliveries placed on a Friday before 1pm will be delivered the following Monday excluding Bank Holidays - then the delivery will be on the Tuesday)

Plum Slate Chippings 40mm
Our Welsh Slate Plum Slate chippings 40mm are a perfect addition to any landscape with their attractive shades of purple, blue and indigo particularly when wet. As a fish friendly product it is perfect for water features and ponds but it is also ideal for borders and landscaping projects. Our photographs show the product wet and dry. We also stock smaller Plum Slate Chippings 20mm and larger Plum Slate Paddlestones 50-100mm. You can combine the Plum with one of our other colour slates that are available in smaller and larger sizes to create a contrasting feature. Please see our sizing info. Green Slate Chippings 40mm
Green Slate Chippings 40mm are a larger alternative to the 20mm that are ideal for decorative borders and other landscaping projects where a chunkier look is required. A versatile stone with a natural subtle green colour that darkens when wet it will blend well with any garden environment. As a fish friendly product it is ideal for water features and fish ponds. Generally the 40mm size is unsuitable for a drive or path with our 20mm Green Slate Chippings being a better option as they lay flatter. The 40mm is a popular decorative ground covering stone and excellent weed suppressant with a more attractive look than a bark or mulch alternative. Please see our sizing info. Charcoal Slate Rockery
Also known as Black Slate or Graphite Grey Slate, this attractive Charcoal Slate Rockery stone has become a popular choice with landscapers and gardeners. The flat, angular pieces can be used in rockeries, decorative walling and gabion baskets and as a fish friendly product it can also be used in water features, ponds and aquatics. It is grey in colour when dry and almost black when wet. A full crate contains approx. 70 pieces and a half crate approx. 35 pieces of irregular shaped stones sized around 250mm. To create a contrast or for a different colour please see our other slate rockery colours Blue, Green and Plum or for a little extra surface detail our Cornish and Rustic Slate Rockery are also very popular.
