Garden Border Edging
Garden border edging creates a sturdy yet stylish perimeter around garden borders, gravel driveways, lawns or patios.
As an essential hardscaping accessory, garden edging can hold back soil and other vegetation while reducing the ability for lawns or weeds to grow past a certain point.
Our traditional concrete edging is supplied in ready-made blocks to quickly establish a garden edge without having to use small individual bricks. The designs feature styles such as rope detailing along with buff stone finishes.
Alternatively, we also supply thin mild steel edging that has been powder coated for added durability, boasting an easy-to-install interlocking design. Overall, our mild steel border edging gives a fantastic contemporary finish to your outdoor projects.
Stone Warehouse stocks a wide range of edging as part of our landscaping accessories. With UK nationwide delivery available across our site, it’s never been easier to purchase superior quality garden border edging for your project.

Borders For Garden Edges: An Overview
Every landscaping or hardscaping product offers something different for your project. So when it comes to garden border edging, it’s all about neatening up your work to create a tidy lawn, gravel driveway or patio.
How garden border edges work is that they create a physical barrier between different sections of your landscaping project.
While not designed to hold back vegetation to the same degree as retaining walls, border edges do offer some of the same qualities to prevent gravel, soil and other debris from encroaching onto your lawn or patio. They can also be used to prevent weeds from growing where you don’t want them to, or simply to improve the aesthetic appeal of your outdoor space.
Our garden border edging is available in two main styles, including:
Traditional concrete blocks - Our concrete garden border edging offers practicality and ease of use. Available in various styles including rope garden edging, terracotta edging and buff stone edging.
Metal Interlocking strips - Our powder coated mild steel garden border edging is designed to withstand the elements. Look out for the handy spikes and interlocking design making installation a breeze. (Core Edging)

For Weed Control

Alongside weeds in your garden, edging can also be used to line patios that border neighbouring gardens to prevent weeds from growing through into your side of the boundary.
Soil Retention
Garden edging provides a physical barrier between two structures within your garden, and can be used to prevent soil or other debris from extending beyond a certain point.
To Frame Flower Beds

How To Install Garden Edging
Every garden edging works slightly differently, so it’s a good idea to reference your chosen garden edging product listing. We’ve included installation videos on our site to guide you.
Some good accessories to have at hand include a spade or edging tool, string, a spirit level, a hammer or rubber mallet, sand and mortar.
Good to know: If purchasing our interlocking core edging products, this type of edging has spikes which help the edging to fix into place, meaning mortar isn’t required.
What Is The Easiest Edging To Install?
Our core edging has an interlocking system and uses spikes to fix into the ground, making it incredibly easy to install. Overall, so long as you avoid individual bricks or small stones, garden edging is designed to be practical and straightforward to install.
How To Lay Sleepers For Garden Edging
It is possible to use our sleepers for various landscaping projects, including establishing boundaries such as when creating a raised bed. However, railway or wooden sleepers are not used specifically for garden edging unless there is a significant height difference between the landscaping structures. For instance, if the driveway sits much lower than the soil which surrounds it, the sleepers are needed to create a retaining wall. If you are in search of increased height or strength capabilities for an edging project, head over to our sleepers page to view the full usage suitability.
How To Lay A Brick Garden Edge
Laying a brick garden edge can be incredibly time consuming, as, unlike our concrete or mild steel edging, you have to take the time to lay each individual brick, ensuring it is level and neat as you work.
Once you’ve measured out how many bricks you need and ordered the correct quantity, you’ll need to dig a trench to accommodate the length and width of the bricks. As you work, remove any debris such as rocks or stones from the soil. Mix and add concrete onto the ground for the bricks to adhere to. Use a rubber mallet to knock each brick into place, checking the level with a spirit level. When finished, sweep sand in between the bricks.
Of course, if you want to avoid all that hassle, opt for our concrete or metal garden edging instead! That’s because our edging is supplied either in large concrete blocks which slot straight into place, or an interlocking system which easily clicks together.
How Much Does Concrete Garden Edging Cost?
Our concrete garden edging is priced starting at £249 for 28.8 linear metres. However, if you are looking for a smaller quantity of edging, then opting for our mild steel edging may work out cheaper, starting at £38.99 for 5 linear metres and available in 6 different colours. Discover our full range of edging by browsing our website.
