Rainbow Indian sandstone cobbles are naturally occurring sandstone stones known for their striking multicoloured bands and durable composition. These cobbles get their name from the rainbow-like patterns of colour, comprising warm shades of red, orange, brown and cream. 

Also known as rainbow cobble rock, these cobbles possess a rustic charm when used within garden landscaping projects. 

What Makes Rainbow Sandstone Cobbles Different From Other Sandstone Cobbles?

Probably the most notable feature of rainbow sandstone rock is that it has distinct bands of colour running through it. 

Every cobble has a slightly different formation in terms of the shape of the banding and also the exact colours within it.

What Is The Rainbow Sandstone Texture Like?

Sandstone is a natural material, and our cobbles are naturally formed which gives them an irregular shape. In terms of how this impacts the texture of the cobbles, it is typical for sandstone cobbles to have a slightly coarse and gritty surface. Overall, this gives sandstone products non-slip properties, especially the likes of sandstone paving.
 

Alternatively, smooth rainbow sandstone can be found in statement pieces, such as large sandstone spheres which can be paired with our cobbles as part of your design. Often, these have a polished and glossy appearance which works perfectly when the piece is purely for visual aesthetics. 

Or, to retain the more rugged texture of our rainbow cobbles within the rest of your landscaping design, you could also pair the cobbles with one of our apricot mini monoliths. 

What’s The Difference Between Cobbles And Pebbles?

The main differences between cobbles and pebbles are their size, which in turn influences their overall usage suitability for your garden project. 

Our rainbow Indian sandstone cobbles are large and irregularly shaped. This makes them a great ‘filler’ stone for decorative uses, such as borders or to line the top of a raised bed. In one of our product images, we’ve even demonstrated how rainbow cobbles perfectly complement rainbow sandstone balls as part of a design statement. 

In contrast, pebbles are small, smoother and rounder in shape. As with all pebbles, rainbow sandstone pebbles have a more polished appearance, as they are also known as rainbow sandstone tumbled pebbles. Rainbow pebbles are also used for decorative purposes, but their smaller size means a higher quantity is needed to fill the same area of space. That said, experimenting with different size cobbles and pebbles can provide visual interest. 

Can Rainbow Cobbles Be Used For Water Features?
